I was looking for some paint to let my baby do some arts and crafts. She’s a big fan of finger painting. She’s still young so I knew I would have to worry about her putting it in her mouth. While looking at supposedly “safe for baby” finger paints, I was astonished at the ingredient list. Most of the words I couldn’t even pronounce! So, I made it a mission to come up with a safe, non-toxic paint that I could use whenever my baby wanted to paint.
The best part about this paint is that you probably already have the ingredients on hand! Even if you don’t have the ingredients already, they can EASILY be found in the grocery section at the store.
What you will need:
Food Coloring – I used the gel kind
Containers or Ramekins (1 for each color you plan to make)
Add 1 tbsp of water to each ramekin
Add 1 tbsp of cornstarch to each ramekin and mix until all the clumps are dissolved.
Add food coloring of the desired color to the ramekin (one color per ramekin). I only needed 2 drops and it made a fairly bold color.
I don’t know if this paint can be saved because I always pour mine out after using it. So, save it at your own risk.
Here are the colors I made
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
Have a beautiful day!
