New year, new me, isn’t that what they say?
This year I’m going to get my finances in order and I’m going to share my journey with you every step of the way!
So let’s just jump right in!
January 2019
Income in our budget for this month will be my husbands paychecks (he gets paid on the 1st & 15th) & variable income from my blog and side hustles (since I’m in school right now and staying home with my little one).
We do not share our income on my blog for various reasons, but that is what I always list first on our budget.
So far:
Income | Estimate | Actual | +/- |
Paycheck 1 | $ | $ | |
Paycheck 2 | $ | $ | |
Variable income | $ | $ | |
Total income | $ | $ |
Next is our expenses – Mortgage, car payment, electric bill, etc.
I line my categories based on when they are due. For example, our mortgage is due on the 1st of every month, whereas our electric isn’t due until the 5th. So that’s how I decide where they go each month.
We also don’t share expenses such as our mortgage or our car payment on my blog (just for personal reasons).
I also keep an unbudgeted category as a placeholder, but I don’t actually budget for unbudgeted items.
My budget also includes a “Sinking Funds” category, you can read more about that HERE!
Expenses | Estimate | Actual | +/- |
Mortgage | $ | $ | |
Car payment | $ | $ | |
Electric | $250.00 | $ | |
Spotify | $9.99 | $ | |
Netflix | $7.99 | $ | |
Car insurance | $280.00 | $
Phone bill | $170.00 | $ | |
Wifi | $95.50 | $ | |
Grocery/household | $450.00 | $
Eating out | $120.00 | $ | |
Gas | $220.00 | $ | |
Sinking funds | $605.00 | $
Unbudgeted | $0.00 | $ | |
Total expenses | $ | $ |
There ya have it, folks. That’s how January’s monthly budget is set up. Check back in at the end of January/beginning of February to see the budget all filled out!
