Ah, two of my favorite things – cinnamon rolls & waffles, rolled into one. I don’t think it gets much better than that, my friends. This recipe makes 4 waffles or 8 pancakes. I think the waffle iron is faster because my little one keeps me on my toes, but pancakes are just as tasty. So it’s totally your preference. Here is a waffle iron similar to the one I have.
I make these every week and somehow by the end of the week we are all out. And guess what? I’m never sick of them.
I’ve also realized that the swirl can’t be seen after the waffle is cooked anyways – so I got a little lazy and added all the ingredients into one bowl instead of doing separate bowls for the batter and cinnamon mixture – and ya know what? It’s DELISH. And not only is it DELISH, it’s also easier and uses less dishes. Win, win, and win.
Cinnamon Roll Waffles
Prep Time: 10 min Total Time: 10 min
Cook Time: 20 min Servings: 6 waffles
2 cups waffle batter (I use premade waffle mix – but here is a homemade version)
2 tbsp melted butter
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
Preheat waffle iron. Prepare waffle batter according to box directions.
Melt the butter. Add the butter, brown sugar and cinnamon to waffle batter. (You may do the swirl separately if you wish, just mix the butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a different bowl and swirl it through the dough once placed on the waffle iron.)
Spray waffle iron with cooking spray. Evenly pour waffle batter onto the waffle iron.
Cook until golden and until waffle feels spongey. Repeat until ingredients are gone.
If you would like cinnamon roll icing, here is a good recipe.
